"BLUE PERIOD" - 24x18" Original Oil Painting

\"BLUE PERIOD\" - 24x18\" Original Oil Painting

*** Note - the original painting is a finalist in the Richeson 75 Landscape, Seascape & Architecture 2012 Fine Art competition.*** This is a scene from the NW Metra commuter train. I'm calling this piece "Blue Period", because of a few things. One, it is of the period looking out the window of the train when all you see is the not so attractive and touristy outskirts of the city before entering downtown Chicago. Two, it's of Winter which always makes me melancholy anyway (I'm a Summer person). Three, the color scheme reminds me of one of my favorite paintings - "The Guitarist" from Picasso which by the way is owned by The Art Institute of Chicago. And Four, I'm on the verge of turning 40 and am rather depressed and feeling like I have not accomplished enough with my life thus far.

For those on the more observant side, I also think the 3 ladders are meaningful. I often measure and reflect on my life by the period of time with my three husbands. You could also say they are my 3 adult decades - the last one leading to nowheresville.

The 24x18" stretched canvas is 1.5 inches deep. It is fully gallery-wrapped (painted on all sides, so does not need to be framed) and ships via USPS.
