Paintings from Chicago - March

Chicago- Bucktown, Illinois
24 X 20"

Story Behind the Painting

Bucktown is one of my favorite Chicago neighborhoods. It is very accessible to everywhere and has lots of fun bars and restaurants that the tourists don't know about. This scene is a typical March dull-drum day where it rains/snows and is rather blah. The location is coming up on the North/Milwaukee three-way intersection from Damen Avenue.

This weather is nice to paint, because it is a challenge to make pretty. The restaurant to the right, Feast, is my usual Sunday breakfast place. They make awesome morning cocktails and have steak benedict.
