Paintings from the Midwest- Flurry

Skokie, Illinois

Story Behind the Painting

I painted this painting titled "Flurry" out my window during the great Midwest Artict Blast of 2014 on January 5, finishing it up during my lunch hour on January 6th. Skokie, IL went on record with an all time low of -16F (nearly -50 windchill) forcing Chicagoland school closures. My condo overlooks a semi-private rooftop terrace with lovely snow-capped trees - painting out a window is the way to do Winter Plein Air!

Note that this painting has some palette knife detail to it and quite a bit of texture/build up compared to most of my pieces.
