About "Green River"
This huge painting depicts Upper Wacker Drive and the Chicago River in the late afternoon. It is a scene from the Purple Line CTA when the lights have just come on, yet there is still daylight - a beautiful time of day to appreciate the skyscrapers.
Some of the buildings included in this view are the RR Donnelley Building, the Leo Burnett Building, Hotel 71, Marina City, and the former Traffic Court Building.
The painting is titled "Green River" for two reasons: first because Wacker Drive is kind of the Wall Street of Chicago, and secondly because we ceremoniously die the river green on St. Patrick's Day.
